Avira problem

I downloaded Avira last week and all was working well but this evening a windows security alert came up saying that AntiVir is out of date but the thing is it wont let me update it. Ive tried updating it manually too but it wont update.
Any ideas?

If you do a search you'll find that this is getting to be a regular occurrence with Avira.0

No need to uninstall and reinstall
Their servers are yet again busy in the last few days, with some large definition update files, with quite a few complaints in their forums.
Try at a less busy time, but hope that doesn't mean not until after 3 am0 -
Redux i didnt read your post and i have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and theres no joy. It still wont update. If there are a quite a few issues with this product than surely its leaving my computer vunerable which makes me wish i hadnt unistalled my previous version of AVG.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. By uninstalling/reinstalling Avira AntiVir I think you've established that the problem probably doesn't lie on your computer.
Perhaps you might like to try another product? There are several free antivirus programs which you can use: AVG is recently up to version 9; Avast is another possibility...0 -
