any way of repairing a burnt kitchen worktop?

I've got one of those laminate-type worktops, and made the mistake of setting a hot saucepan on it donkeys ago, it blistered and now there is a nice jagged hole which looks awful and is a buqqer to clean, is there anything you can get to patch it with or is it a case of replacing the worktop?
At the minute I just place a glass worktop protector/chopping board over it but hoping to rent the house in the new year so would like to get it sorted.
cheers

I did exactly the same thing whilst staying at my Mother in Laws
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to repair it, and we had to have new worktops fitted. When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
Mother in law had the same problem.
She got a carpenter in. Using a router , removed a section and dropped in a 'chopping board'0 -
I do a lot of insurance work and this is a typical insurance claim assuming you have accidental cover on your policy. They will cover the full cost of the work tops, installation, removal of the old one, removal and reinstallation of sink, hob etc. Give them a call.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

cheers, never even thought of claiming on the insurance, now must check if I have accidental damage cover!
