I'm not buying that straight away as I'm looking for the best price.

I know what I need to buy - just looking for the best place to buy it.

Crucial..... quality > cheap tat.

Go here.

Select DDR SDRAM, Capacity 1GB

Then read the list.... but remember
DDR memory with support for DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 speeds.

and

Your system does not support ECC.

Find one you want. and if you really want to Paypal it, then get it from ebay

OK, thanks guys and apologies for not getting back to you sooner.
Another quick question, what's the difference between DIM and SO DIMM for connections and Parity and Non-Parity?

This is the page I'm looking at:-

Hi all

I'm looking to increase the amount of RAM in my Windows XP box as far as it will go (without breaking the bank).
I currently have 1 x 512MB stick and 1 x 1GB stick (only showing as 512MB as it's dual channel which my motherboard won't recognise).

According to the Crucial scanner, I need to install "DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot."

Can anyone point me in the right direction where I can purchase the memory from and preferably somewhere that will accept a Paypal payment?

interesting..as i have upgraded my pc over year ago from 2x 256MB to 2x 512 RAM (same type of RAM as OP).
i was thinking of changing 1x512 stick to a 1GB, hoping to get 1.5gb RAM.
If i did this will it mean my system wont recognise the extra 1gb and just remain as 512?

(BTW i got my memory from Crucial last time - good customer service and would use again)

My system doesn't recognise the full 1GB stick in my machine as it's High Density memory which my motherboard isn't compatible with.
Get the right memory and you should be fine.

just to let you know adding a 1Gb and 512 MB card worked for me total is 1.5gb showing!

Its worth accessing the crucial scanner and then speak to an agent online to double check if you are unsure about mixing any memory types!
