Hi, Whos been using the Windows Live Messenger Beta? Is it any good?

It's ok. I like the search for a user feature and think the latest look looks quite good; but logging on seems to be a bit funny. It kind of pauses after I've signed on, almost as if it's crashed before eventually logging me on. Hopefully it'll be sorted on the final version.

I use mess.be patch to get rid of all large annoying, intrusive adverts though, which makes it a lot more bearable!

I'd have to agree with that, the tabs and ads are quite annoying.

I have been using it as well and i like it better than MSN Messenger 7.5.

Don't forget that if you do use the patch from https://www.mess.be you will be infringing Microsoft's Terms of Use.

It's alright, I use the new Office Communicator at work (corporate MSN) and it seems to have some similar features.

I think the new MSN looks nicer

Tools, Options, Hide Tabs does actually work within messenger 8 beta
and I wouldnt personally touch mess.be with a barge pole.

Sign on has been fine for me

Yes correct, no need to patch things that have options you can uncheck anyway.

same thing for me, when it tells me how many emails i have after logging in it pauses and when you hover it there is a little timer
