Pre FOS Claim Bespoke/Freedom/Paragon Dead End

Hi Guys

Well, having written repeatedly to Paragon (the original loan providers) they have refused to acknowledge any responsibility in my PPI claim and advised that they are closing the case and if I want to do anything more, I should seek legal advice.

Wrote to Freedom, who said that Karacus (Bespoke) were responsible for the PPI and that they were taking nothing more to do with the case.

Wrote to [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] at Bespoke who said that as 6yrs had passed, I signed the agreement but the had no documentation and would not accept responsibility.

I have been in touch with the FSA, the FOS, the FLA and OFT and none can help.

I am nervous about getting solicitors involved (which is probably why they suggested it!) because I don't want to end up even more out of pocket.

It would appear that I am simply going to have to write off the £8k and put it down to a very painful experience. It does suck the big one that me, and folks like me, who were diddled into PPI's will lose out due to a lack of consumer protection at the time. However, I will not dwell and will go onwards and upwards.

I wish everyone here good fortune and luck with their reclaiming endeavours and thank those who have commented on my posts and offered support, wisdom and knowledge.
Cheers
Hayley

Haley, I replied earlier with a long post and just as I clicked to post it the forum went down.

What i was saying is don't give up on this one. I know that FOS is accepting complaints of this kind against the insurer whereby the broker/lender is not regulated and especially as the broker is not in the UK. I would now get onto FOS and tell them you have exhausted the complaints system correctly and that you would ask that they look at this complaint against the underwriter of the policy. I know there are lots that have resubmitted this way and I still think there is a very good chance of you doing this. Please ask and get back to us to let us know how you go on.

Thanks for getting in touch. I had a very lengthy conversation with the FOS and they were very clear that they could not help me. I will however get back in touch with [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] to find out who the insurer/underwriter was.

PaulinWeston - the loan was for £25k and the PPI was £7.5k. I have the original application form - or at least I will have when Peter Bottomly (Petermb) sends it back!!
  • HayleyJ - I'll send you a PM

So were you using petermb for this then? He normally says on here to pursue the lender and not the broker. When was it you sent him your agreement as i know of others on here just lately whereby they have used the company and still waiting for 2 years. Did he say you had a case cause maybe he has passed this on to a solicitor by now but against the lender?
  • I pm'd you Marshalka
