Southern Spain Holiday (Andalucia)

Hey guys ;)

I really would appreciate some advice on a holiday plan!! 3 friends and I wish to go to Andalucia (southern spain) for 5 days from 3rd June - 8th June.

We need somwhere to get away from post exam stress but being students we cant afford to pay premium prices!!

Looking for a beach/relaxing/sight visiting holiday, not really looking for clubbing/nightlife or fellow drunk Brits I'm afraid :p Hopefully would like to stay in a hotel near the beach, go horseriding trail/golf/check out a bullfight maybe (altho I don't really like the idea! but my friends are forcing me!) and visit the sights in Sevilla and Granada.

We thought that the cheapest flight seems to be to Seville, and from there we could take a taxi or bus or something to the southern part, such as Cadiz, Malaga and places like that, but the PROBLEM is that I don't know which hotels to stay! I'm not looking for an expensive hotel, cos we won't really be staying there, and we wouldn't want food included as I'd like to eat out.. maybe breakfast only..

Could anyone suggest any places where we could find a cheap, central hotel that would meet my hopefull ideas of horseriding and visiting seville/granada? and is it best to do a DIY holiday this time (5nights) or to go to https://www.lastminute.com or https://www.teletext.co.uk or something?? thanks!!

and i've seen https://www.andalucia.com but it doesn't seem like they tell you how to book horseriding/olf/bullfights etc, and what's the transport like there? is it easy to get around, or must you get a travelcard or something??

thank you so so much! I'd really appreciate some guidance!!

Kami xx

Hi, I've been to a small place not far from Malaga twice, we did stay at a friends apartment so can't give you any advice on hotels but I can tell you to steer clear of Torromolinos, which is v. package holiday and rowdy (ok for a day trip nice big Zara there!)

The train network is fantastic so where ever you decide to stay if you are near a 'renfe' you should be able to get about around the area really quite cheaply and easily. I liked it coz they had security guards on board so you never felt uneasy at night when there were rowdy Brits getting onboard!

I'd avoid the bullfight if you can, really isnt all its cracked up to be by all accounts!

The train https://www.renfe.es service from Seville to Cadiz is good and cheap, you could stop off at Jerez. I wouldn't bother going to Malaga, 5 days doing Seville, Jerez, Cadiz is about right and the beaches around Cadiz are good.

We've been several times now to Benalmadena, on the coast between Fuengirola ahttp://www.hotelalay.com/nd Toremolinas. All quite pleasant away from the school holidays.
    Stayed here: http://www.hotelalay.com/
and spent £50 ish for double room with breakfast - great buffet.
Evening meals not quite asa good, but you can eat very well in the Marina area
Excellent train service runs right along the coast.
Flights into Malaga generally cheap, but you may be a bit close to your dates by now

I would recommend Rancho Ferrer which is in the province of Granada for great horse-riding. It is only about 6 kilometres from the beach and the little town of Castell de Ferro. They can also provide accommodation. Alternatively, there are camp sites close by. There is also a hostel in Castell de Ferro, right opposite the beach.

we always used to stay in la cala which was fab as quite central ,so estepona / benal / marbella / torremolinos ( though not keen personally) / mijas / fuengirola / malaga etc were all within easily reachable distance

plenty of places to see / things to do etc :)

we always hire a car but the buses & trains are apparently good

try asking on http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g187435-i317-Costa_del_Sol_Andalusia.html about how good / reliable / cheap the public transport is :)

Go to costa de la luz, it'll be quiet. Why not look for an apartment.. Ayamonte is a lovely Spanish town right on the border with Portugal so you could fly into Faro or seville and catch a train. Try Holiday Rentals.com
