£3213 final bill
Options
I changed from E.ON to Scottish Hydro-Electric for Electricity and gas in Sept Just viewed final bill online ---£3213 !!!! They had a ridiculous final reading for electricity - SO glad I checked last night or E.ON were going to try to take that out of my direct debit account on Mon.Immediately cancelled direct debit and phoned both companies this morning, so it's being sorted. But how can anyone mistake a reading of 9214 for 46569 ??? They got the gas reading wrong as well.

This is outrageous!! A similar thing happened to may dad last year and we are still waiting for this bill to be resolved as they said he would have to pay it and then they would reimburse him! He refused to pay, and they said they would cut him off. thankfully, that didn't happen and the bills comntinued as normal from then on, but we that bill is still hanging in the balance! Good luck!0

Be careful cancelling your DD or you may lose your DD discount. If it is an error you shouldn't need to cancel your DD.0

Hi chris
I am really sorry we've sent you a final bill to the wrong meter readings. This must have been one almighty shock!
When changing supplier, it is the responsibility of the gaining supplier to provide the final readings to the losing supplier. Do you know if this happened in your case?
Did you advise us of the final readings prior to the bill being issued?
From the info provided, it may be the gas and electric readings were entered the wrong way round.
You are doing exactly the right thing in talking to both us and Scottish Hydro. Between us, we need to agree readings that fall in line with previous usage; as well as making sure our closing readings match Scottish Hydro's opening readings. This will ensure you are only charged once for energy used.
It sounds as though you have already started the ball rolling. Let me know if I can advise further. Always happy to help.
