British Gas bills for £0.00!!

Sorry long story about British Gas!

When we moved in we set up direct debits for dual fuel & provided initial meter readings... after a month or 2 we noticed we'd only paid for electricity... called British Gas via annoying call centre & was promised call back after long discussion trying arrange new direct debit....

Didn't receive any call back.. called again..... promised another call back...... no call. Eventually it was nearly 6months since moving in. Emailed them this time... had conversation with someone at British Gas - gave them a reading & our initial reading again as they'd lost it. They provided a costing & I paid it to date with promise new direct debit would be set up.

Now another few months have passed & no direct debit - we've received paper bills though - for £0.00!!!

Finding it so frustrating to deal with the call centre... given they are billing us for £0.00 should we bring it to their attention....or........?

  • Keep the meter reading from when you first move in and ask to speak to a manager.

    Just explain that this is your X amount of time phoning and you would like this dealt with.

    If you haven't used any gas (we don't during the summer), then you will get a bill for £0.00

    However, as you want to pay monthly by DD, and that is not being collected, there does seem to be an error.

    You have tried to bring this to their attention, but it hasn't been reolved.

    Raise this as a complaint with British Gas - details of how to do this are on the bill.

    it didn't work last time - the direct debit still wasn't set up despite going through it all again...... i will go down the complaint route as suggested

    Hairbrain05, I spoke to a lovely guy yesterday at BG, I can give you his personal work number, he sorted out my problems with my meter readings, do you want me to PM you?
  • They are a PAIN to deal with.

    I left & went to edf instead, worked out cheaper for us as well.
