LLOYDS/HBOS - Will I have trouble with my safe bank account?

Hi there!
I've entered a DMP with Payplan and have everything up and running with a Lloyds Classic Account.

They've been very efficient, but I've since discovered that HBOS (who own my Marbles credit card) now come under the Lloyds Banking Umbrella.

I spoke to my Personal Banking Manager at Lloyds and she assured me that HBOS/Marbles couldn't just help themselves to my money.

But I'm not sure - I'd rather not leave because I'm very happy with Lloyds.

My question therefore is, has anyone with a Lloyds TSB account had any trouble with their HBOS related creditors since they merged?

Many thanks, I'm freaking out!!!

This came up before and I think the answer was yes, they can take your money.

First question - are you absolutely sure that HBOS own the Marbles cards? I thought SAV Credit owned them and wasn't aware of a connection with HBOS.

Indeed, HBOS unloaded some (not all) of their affinity cards 2 or 3 years ago.

At this point in time, HBOS and Lloyds TSB are treated as two separate entities as far as right of set off is concerned. While I would expect this to change in time, you have nothing to worry about today.

Here's another linky that suggests HBOS and Marbles aren't linked.

It seems that the Marbles card is managed by Aviemore Funding Ltd part of SAV.
The card is issued by Bank of Scotland.

    Cheers for that clarity!

It gets even more confusing as to who can take what and when!
  • Thanks everyone. I've opened a Co-op Cashminder where I will put my homeworking money in the meantime to keep it active and then if the preverbial hits the fan I'll move everything there.

    Thanks again, CC xx
