Second Chance Offer Query?

Hi

I would appreciate some advice please.
I have just sold an item and I was happy with the price. The second highest bidder also put in a fair offer. I have more than one of this item to sell and I was wondering if I am allowed to use the Second Chance Offer button for the second highest bidder, instead of re-listing the same item again? Or is this button only to be used if the winning bidder doesn't pay? I did start to click on the button but it says 'allow the highest bidder to pay'.

I'm a bit confused and I really don't want to break any e-bay rules. :o

thanks

  • If it's an identical item go for the second chance bidder, there's a space to write a few words on the email so tell him that you have more than one, a few newbies don't understand second chance yet.
If I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from

ok, sorry to be a pain, I have just found most of the answer in the help section on e-bay. I couldn't find it before :o

It says if I send a second chance offer to the second highest bidder then the highest bidder can't complete checkout. What does this mean exactly?

really sorry to be a nuisance but I don't want to do this and then muck up my proper sale.

    thanks

It is is an identical item, yes. Thanks for replying.
  • Hi, I quite often send second chance offers out and have never come across being told that the highest bidder can't complete checkout.

Sending second chance offers for identical items is great (particularly if you got a good price in the first place) as it saves on listing fees.

If you are using the second chance offer feature then the original buyer will be able to complete the transaction as well as the eBay user who you are offering the second chance offer to.

    eBay says:
Second Chance Offers can be sent to the non-winning bidders if the high bidder does not complete a purchase or if a seller has duplicate items.

thanks everyone. I will go and do it now. Why am I such a wuss where e-bay is concerned. I just worry that I'm going to do the wrong thing. :o

thanks Hopeless, have sent offer and I have my fingers crossed it sells.
E-bay is such a strange world sometimes. Bids never seem to go how you think they will do they?
