Can i claim compensation from the CSA?

Hi everyoneI have just found out this weekend by a chance letter that my ex who was supposed to be paying me £3 a week ( which is a joke anyway!!) since 2001 for his two kids has not actually gave me a penny! He has been pretending that he pays me directly. I didn't even notice as for some reason i have always thought that the £3 went in with my child benefit. It now works out as over £1000 that he owes us!The child support agency are claiming it is my fault as i have never let them know that i wasn't receiving any money but i feel it should have been their job to write to me and let me and confirm that my ex was paying me direct after all that is their job that is why i went to them in the first place!I have seen a solicitor who is going to try and get them to pay me a lump sum and then collect the arrears off him. I will never get it from him as he doesn't work on purpose so that he doesn't need to give the kids what he should be. He works on the fly and doesn't inform the benefits agency that he is working.I would also like to claim compensation from the CSA as basically they have been no help to me whatsover and have not did their job!

You will find thousands of people who have been dumped on by the CSA and their ongoing incompetance! When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -
Just out of interest, how much will this cost you?*SIGH*

It would help your case if you went through ICE and they upheld your complaint.0

But keep in mind OP that you cant go through the Independent Case Examiner until you have went through the complaints process at the CSA.When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -
Pretty sure that you will have been sent a form with a box to tick if you wanted the CSA to collect the monies on your behalf and pass it on to you. Unless you've ticked that box (and got a copy of the form) don't fancy your chances of any compo......Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon

I've just had a baby so i'm not working just now, so luckily i get legal aid.0

I very much doubt you would get compensation or the money paid as a lump sum before your ex pays. If it was that easy then everybody who is owed arrears would be getting it all as a lump sum! They wait untill they get money of a NRP before sending money on0

and while on benefits they can't take more than the usual £5 anyway so no arrears can be collected from NRP....
your best bet is to report him to Benefit Fraud hotline if he's working on the side, may not actually get you your money tho...0 -

What is the point of reporting him to benefit fraud? To me it is just sheer spite!
I know my DM works 16hrs, claims this and that and works cash in hand as well as get csa monies, I would not stoop so low as to grass her up.

If you put in a complaint of maladministration you may find the csa give you a small token payment to make up for thier incompetance if there was any, usually around £50.When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0
