Hi guys, quick question.
My last statement I owed £305 on my HSBC credit card, £10 of that was an emergency cash withdrawal. Since my statement I have spent about £100 on it.
I was wondering to clear the £10 cash withdrawal can I just credit it with £305 (statement amount) or do I need to credit £405 (the full balance right now).
Obviously being able to keep the £100 for another 6 weeks would be best.
Cheers

IIRC they charge interest on the Cash from the day of withdrawal, not the statement date so you need to pay the statement AND the accumulated interest to date to clear the account. This has caught me out before and I've ended up with 2-3 months of paying interest! Either call them to check the total amount owing in interest or just stump up the 'estimated interest' for that statement on top of the L3050

I get that but HSBC apply my credits in a specific order with cash advances at the end.
Would crediting £305 pay off the £10 at the end
or
£295 of my old purchases and £10 of my new purchases leaving me with the £10 cash advance still owing?0 -
You'd pay off the purchases first. The cash advance will still be on there if there is a remaning balance.0

Thanks for that, just paid it all off and cut the card in half. It's an internet only card now0
