Do you need "business use" insurance cover to use your own car to deliver pizza?

Cheers.

I know. Imagine if he drove into someones unlit illegal skip they had purchased for no reason other than blocking a road.

OP in some cases insurers might not even think Business use is enough for a delivery driver.

Remember, even if you work for a company that insures your vehicle whilst used on their business, you still need to inform your own insurance company of any changes to your employment, including part time/additional job, etc.

yup, plus check what cover they offer
eg if its 3rd party only then what happens if your car gets broken into while you are off delivering?
  • Remember to declare it to the tax man too. You'll probably have to go self assessment.

Most are students anyway and don't earn enough to pay tax. If they didn't own a car in the first place they wouldn't need to deliver pizza to pay for it.

No. You need hire and reward insurance which specifically covers fast food delivery.

Business use is for sales reps, plumbers, etc

Hire and reward is for couriers etc

Hire and reward incl fast food is for pizza boys
