Hi All
Just thought I'd warn people to always get a second opinion before having work done by well known garages, as i was nearly ripped off by Suzuki this week.
On monday i took my car into Suzuki to have them take a look at my drivers seat, as it seems to be slipping off the rails while i was driving and then popping back up again. After they took a look at it i was told it would cost me £550.00 sbject to warranty!
To cut a long story short, i was told that my warranty wasn't valid anymore as i hadn't had the car serviced in the 14 months that i'd owned it, so i had 2 options:
1. Pay £550 to have the seat fixed
2. Subject to the managers approval, i could have the seat fixed under the warranty so long as i had a service done by them at the same time. The cost of the service would be £250 plus VAT.
My boyfriend was shocked when i told him all this, so the next day i went to my local garage as asked if they would have a quick look over it.
He took one look and said 'i can fix that, it just needs tightening'. So he tightened it within two minutes and then looked under the back of the seat and found that there was a bolt too small for a hole that was creating the initial movement. He's ordered me a correctly fitting bolt and for what cost........
£15!
Needless to say, it's booked in tomorrow for the bolt to be fitted and for a service as well (at a cost of £200).
Thank god i took a second opinion!
