Depends on what sort of cowl you want/which depends on the fuel and any problems you are having with a downdraft.

    Try Specflue Ltd website.

Usually a local sweep will fit the cowl for you.

oh sorry, spelling mistake, it is cowl isn't it! Thanks for answering. Just wondered as I have been charged £100 to have one fitted.

Yes I knew :) Depends on the cowl as I said - you can get them as cheap as £15 or so or as expensive as over £100. Go on a few websites and see how much the one you have been quoted for is to buy. But do remember, when the bloke who fits it climbs up on that roof, his life is in danger and his insurance premiums will be high.

Thanks, I will have a look at that website. I did find another one that charged only about £22.00 for a cowl - and my OH was thinking about saving that money and fitting it himself - as you say I'm a bit worried about him climbing the roof to do that though!

I thought you had posted in the wrong place when I read your heading.

Cawl in welsh is a lamb broth or stew.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
