I have done a really, really quick search, dont know what airports you require but Delta have flights from Manchester to Vegas return on your dates for £514.30.

The Strats website ( with no discounts or offers yet available ) have a deluxe guestroom at $698.73 inc tax and resort fees ( working on £1 = $1.60 that makes £436.71 ).

    So per person that comes to £514.30 plus £218.36 = £732.66 :T
Go on, stick the boot in :rotfl:
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

We stayed in the strat for £11 per night last year :D We booked it as we were driving intgo vegas- plus I had a 40% discount code from Hotels.com as well.

VH are packa merchants, you pay for the peace of mind of being wrapped in a package.

Hope OP has a wonderful time, whatever it costs :D
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Many many thanks everyone for your replies :)

There were a few reasons we booked with Virgin, even though we knew it would cost extra.

Firstly, because its our wedding holiday :) once in a lifetime and we wanted the best. I've flown with Virgin to the states a few times and have always been impressed with their service, however going with other airlines i've always been dissappointed. So for our wedding, we wanted to be uber comfy :)

Another reason is because we wanted the stress to be taken out of the booking. Normally we scour the internet for weeks for the best deals, hotels and flights seperate and we always get a bargin (just got back from Rhodes in Sept, 2 weeks, half board, for £300 each!). But we do find this process stressful and time consuming and as anyone who's got married knows, the planning is not a stress free process even once the venue extra is sorted, theres so much to do!

Finally, we didn't want to get to Vegas then have to continue the planning with sorting out transfers, photography, the chapel, the paperwork, the flowers etc. If you fly with Virign they offer the wedding chapel package. We literally just have to arrive and then the wedding coordinator is coming to meet us, the photos, flowers, music, chapel, paperwork will all be handed to us on a platter and do all the hard work for us leaving us to enjoy Vegas until the big day :)

However, just because we were willing to pay a bit extra for the Virgin package, doesn't mean that we don't feel like we've been ripped off now that the deal has dramatically reduced in price :( £300 could pay for my bridesmaid's dresses!

Am ringing them at some point today to see what they say.

Many thanks again for all you're responses; I love this board, everyone is so helpful!

    xx

I hope you have a wonderful time there and enjoy your wedding. Forget about this or you will remember it each time you think about your wedding day and planning!! It should be a pleasant memory not clouded by booking complications.

In general once you book your holidays don't look back at the prices. You are bound to be either pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised. But in this case, since the cost came down perhaps more people can join you at your wedding and make it an even more memorable occasion... so there might be a bright side to this.

But I do hope you write them a letter* explaining how disappointed you are at this price drop so soon after you booked your trip. You can add that because of you x other people are joining for your wedding, so generating a big profit fo VH. Perhaps other friends are considering similar weddings booked via VH, and you can say how disappointed they are by this. You can ask for some sort of upgrade for yourself at the hotel for example, as a symbolic gesture on their part... Of course, there is always the $20 trick, and I suggest you try the Las vegas sticky thread where people who have stayed at the Stratosphere can help you, since you might get lucky with either the 20$ trick or the "I'm getting married" "trick" - and hopefully you will be upgraded anyway!!

Good luck and have a wonderful wedding!! Isn't there some bride thing you should be doing instead of of visiting an internet forum??? :p

PS: * not sure if it makes a difference, but if you write to them you might stand a better chance of someone actually paying attention. If you call them, the sales person is not likely to be very sympathetic and he won't have power to do anything about that. Perhaps I am old-fashioned, but written complaints feel more effective, if at all effective.

What's wrong with the Stratosphere? :(

Looks really nice on all the websites and we wanted to be at the end of the strip rather than the middle.

Agree with Kenny....... Strats rooms are fine, its the location.

Its pretty much in no mans land between the strip ( Mandalay Bay to TI / Wynn ) and downtown.

Fear not though because the Deuce stops right outside and gets you anywhere for 5 bucks a day ( I think ).

Thanks very much :) really appreciate it.

We did want to be out of the main bit, as we've heard it can be quite overwhelming in the centre of things.

We're planning on taking the bus outside of the Stratopshere ( every 15 mins apparently) in the morning then just heading to the strip for the day and catching a late one back, showering then bussing it back into the strip for the shows (money allowing). A friend told me that this bus is like $3 for the day? SO hopefully wont get caught in the grid lock, though don't think we'd mind, gives you time to look at all the lights and things out the window!

Virgin offered us free use of a car, but we thought there may be a traffic problem and then issues trying to find parking so we turned it down.

The Deuce website, fares, timetables, routes etc etc :

    Kenny :

Its all down to preference about driving in LV. We dont. Dont feel the need to, public transportation is good, in fact, its excellent. Also, a 7 lane highway is not everyones idea of fun !

And dont forget you have to tip the valet !!!!!

And also, how can you partake of all those free alcoholic drinks those lovely cocktail waitresses keep asking me to down if you are worrying about driving :rotfl:
