Hintza...i agree with you. so does my solicitor. Im going to pursue this, another big company thinking they can stamp on the little ones and get away with it!!
Anhiliator... you are assuming a little too much about the situation, or you work for them!!0 -

The OP contracted £200 for the car to be transported for inspection and the possibility of purchasing. as this isnt happening they are entitled to return of the deposit and no more.
I understand the point you are making. But I'm not convinced you are correct.
But will OP gave the conviction to take it all the way then we will know for sure.0 -
An invitation to treat was made and the OP made an offer to buy at the agreed price which the dealer accepted and agreed to deliver the vehicle, a deposit was also made.
As there was offer and consideration I would very much think that a contract was formed.0 -
Confusing that you've posted the same topic in two different subforums. However, as I responded in the other topic, we bought a car from Evans Halshaw who told us a mistake had been made with the price but honoured it.0

Yeah, well ive contacted consumer advice and my solicitor is looking in to it. Have to see where it goes from here.0

Where does OP say that the £200 was purely to inspect the car?
There was a contract formed and the dealer cannot unilaterally withdraw from the contract.0 -
M_13 ... sorry i didnt know which forum was correct, so moved it. Any chance you can give me a bit more info on your personal encounter?? Can i email you? Would be a great help.0

They requested a 200 deposit purely to secure the car. A sepeare 49 pounds would be paid in the total amount for the transportation. completely seperate!0

OP - as you paid by credit card, you have the same rights against your credit card issuer.0
