Dodgy lawnmower?

Options
Just moved into a house with our first garden and have a Qualcast lawnmower which works fine but OH moaning and saying the blades aren't sharp enough and now he wants a Flymo. Is there a way of sharpening the blades without having to splash out on buying a new one?

As long as it's got a metal blade they can be sharpened - take it off and sharpen it (or get someone like Mr Minute to do it)!

a grinder or a file will sharped metal blades if there plastic you can just get new blades ... you coudl also just get new metal blades but really unless there very worn / damaged from stones its cheaper to sharpen them.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

If there are any lawnmower service shops in your area, if you take the old cutting unit they will sell you a service exchange regrind set. Probably easier than doing it yourself, though not as cheap.

i have a 20 year old flymo with blades that look like saw blades my lawn is about 30x15 feet and it does the job fine. I WANT a new lawn mower for no other reason than all the neighbours have petrol ones and i used to untill i stoped being self employed (hence the name) and gave it away. The blades spin round at about 2000 rpm on most machines and your only cutting grass a sharp blade only counts for so much.
