Credit Card For Australia.

in Credit cards
Ok, i am 20 and i have never had a credit card before and i do not have a great deal of knowledge about them.
Basically, when i turn 21 next April, i will receive around £5000 that my Grandmother has been saving for me since i was born.
I have just recently become unemployed and i am having a tough time finding a job. Also i will be starting university next September and i would very much like to go travelling before i go.
I was wondering whether it would be possible for me to get a credit card to fund my trip to Australia and then pay it off next April when i receive my money off my Nan. If i got the right card, would i still have to pay interest?
Also i know it is not possible to get a card when i am unemployed, is there any way of putting a parent as the (i can't think of the word - the one that will pay if i don't!)

your parents can get a credit card and add you as an additional holder. they of course will be totally responsible for paying the bill.
CCs require monthly payment of a least the 'minimum' amount which is typically 2-5% of the monthly balance.
There are 0% purchase cards but it would probably depend upon your parents credit rating/income
although its a worthy aim to go travelling it would also be good to have a little money behind you when you go to Uni.
Is there really no jobs you can do to earn some money.0
