I also prefer having a scottish voice in the call centre with Bank of Scotland, reminds me of home.
I assumed you just have to sign up before 25th June.0 -

So I would say that means you get the option.
Although after signing up it said:
"How to transfer from another bank/building society?...
All we need is one signature to arrange the transfer and we will take care of the rest!
We will set up all your Direct Debits and standing orders, arrange the transfer of any salary/pension payments and close your existing account after regular payments have been confirmed and set up."
I think there will be a form that will ask whether or not you want your old account closed.
Thanks for the info. I take it from that that you've signed up without agreeing with them to close your old accout - just to transfer your so's and dd's. I don't have any so's or dd's on my account (don't see why i should have to) but I'm guessing I'll be OK without them being able to transfer anything accross. (Doesn't say anywhere that you have to have them). Maybe I'll give them a call to be sure and let you know here....0 -
I called and checked - they only close your old accout if you ask them to. Am switching an old account today.yebaws wrote:no, not worth doing the upgrade - fee paying accounts are rarely worth it - but if you are a new customer you can pocket the £100 by opening their fee free intrest paying current account. Another question. I have an old account I can switch, but do you have to authorise the transfer of your salary as well as Direct Debits?
The T&Cs above say "Direct Debits and Standing Orders from your existing account elsewhere and/or mandate your salary/pension"0 -
OH and I applied to open individual accounts via this offer. Today we both received letters informing us the accounts were now opened.
Obviously now looking forward to receiving the £100 each.
Thanks to OP.0
