Ubuntu 9.10 Released

Not yet reported on Distrowatch, but the release has been available from the website since around midday GMT - http://releases.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/

    I'm hoping they have fixed the slowness with the intel mobile graphics chipset. I had to go back to 8.10 after 9.04 wouldn't play any full screen video at full speed.

    Might test a live CD.

    I'm hoping they don't let quite so many basic bugs through, like the networking bugs in the last couple of releases! Neither was hard to overcome, but should never have got through the testing process.

    Given the number of variants - they now have a couple more for Dove and i.MX51 boards - it does make you wonder whether a release every 6 months is just too ambitious...

    ETA for my torrent is looking to be around 8 hours, so I should get a look at it later today.

    Should be fine with karmic.

    I'm running the upcoming Mandriva 2010 here, which now has the same Intel graphics driver version and xorg as karmic is being released with. Works very well now on an Intel GM965/GL960.

    The live karmic RC worked well the other week also.
