I think the Fiat one someone was referring to earlier is the brand new one, as for luggage and shopping space I think the rear seats fold down to give you more storage space.
Buy the best car you can get for your money not the newest. The Ka is very popular at our local auctions especially with trade buyers. Good luck.

... Whats the difference between the Ford and the Fiat? one?
As emmell correctly says, the Fiat one I referred to is the new model first introduced about 12 months ago.

The original Ka that you are probably more familiar with was fully engineered by Ford and produced in Ford's own plant in Spain.

The new one is essentially a Fiat 500 with some revised body panels. Undeneath it is all Fiat including the engine. It is produced in Fiat's own plant in Poland alongside their own Fiat 500.

Edit: regarding what years to go for (assuming you don't want a 1 year old one), then it's not too important; the Ka never really changed much. Ford decided not to fix something that wasn't broken in the first place (just a bit ahead of it's time when it was first introduced, hence why it lasted so long).
Buy the best you can afford.

most of the older ones have the 1.3 endura engine in them and are arounf group 2/3 to insure.
the endura doesnt have a cambelt to change its a chain
they can do high mileage if they are looked after aswell
