carpetbarn

Long shot I know, but my partner bought £600 worth of carpets from Carpetbarn back in 2004. With work constraints ( we work abroad a lot) we never got around to getting the carpets delivered. And then forgot about them all together untill I found the invoice a few months ago. Have contacted the company who are saying they have delivered the carpets etc etc....What can I do? £600 is a lot of money to just loose plus we still need the carpet

You've been 5 years without a carpet and only just noticed?!?!!

I would ask the company to prove delivery of carpets, as one of you would have had to sign for this, but I don't know how long companies are expected to keep signatures for.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Presumably if they ignore it one more year then the 6 years are up?

If I was the retailer I would simply turn round and go please arrange a date for delivery of carpets. We will deliver once you settle your invoice of £600 for five years worth of storage.

You cant seriously expect to get carpets 5 years later because you forgot about them. In all likiehood I would suggest the carpets were delivered and you forgot.

  • Hi,

Even if you have proof that you paid for the goods, they are quite entitled to charge you for 5 years worth of storage costs. May I ask why you actually ordered the carpets if you could not take delivery of them?

Did the carpet company not contact you shortly after you paid them £600 to ask whether you were going to collect your paid-for goods? I'm sure they would have! Did you contact the carpet company to say there would be a long delay on you taking delivery of the goods? I can appreciate you may work abroad a lot, but it would have taken nothing to telephone the said carpet shop and inform them of your situation.
