Hi everyone!!
Yet another query!! I am wanting to copy many, many videos onto DVD. We were going to buy a DVD with HD but have worked out that we don't really need the HD facility as we already have Sky+ so have looked into the combined DVD and video recorders instead.
We already have a video recorder but have been advised that a combined DVD/Video would give a better quality copy than a separate DVD and Video machine.
Has anyone any comments on this?
Can anyone recommend a good value machine that we could buy and where's the cheapest place for these kinda things!!!
Thanks, in advance
Keep up the good work!!!

There will be a little improvement with a combined unit, though the downside is you lose two functions if one breaks down and needs to be sent away for repair.
I would still consider a Hard disk and DVD unit though as you will produce tidy results with being able to edit the recording before burning it to DVD. They are alot more flexible on that side of things than a Sky+ box.
If you're recording videos that you have recorded from TV, then you can take all the adverts out before burning.
If they are pre-recorded tapes you are going to have difficulties which ever unit you buy as many have macrovision protection on to prevent this.
Good quality hard disk units are well under £300 these days, I've used Toshiba and Panasonic ones to produce decent results from video tapes.0 -
what about getting a tv card and recording your videos to your computer hard drive and then transferring to dvdr?
a lot cheaper than getting a new machine, and if you are all techie and stuff, you may be able to improve the picture or audio on some of your videos.
