Credit value on credit card

in Credit cards
I pay my credit card balance in full each month. This month my statement is dated the day before some items had been returned. Statement date is 21st and my credit value of around £190 went through on 22nd. I called them to ask if can pay the amount of my statement minus the credit amount and have been told no, I have to pay the full amount and have the credit on my account. Obviously I don't want to do this as it will mean that they have my £190 and I have to wait to spend it on my card. They said if I pay the total less the credit amount, I will be charged the interest - does this mean I will be charged the interest on the £190 for just one day? If I were to pay it in full, am I entitled to ask them to send me a cheque for the credit owing?
Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated!

Yes you will be charged interest, as a thought though if you are, give the company a ring and explain to them whats happened and they should refund as a goodwill gesture. This happened with me and Citi card refunded.0

Yes they can give you refund but it can take a while.
Capital onetook several weeks to send me a cheque, so it might be just easier to spend it.0
