  • Oops - spent £40 the day before yesterday for a stag party in March next year - originally the stag party was going to be an amazing weekend away for a grand total of £360 inclusive of everything - just turn up with no cash as everything (travel, accom food, drinks etc) would have been included.

However, not everyone could afford it, so plan B is a scaled down version for £100 and instead, everyone attending is contributing something according to their budget. I found on ebay what normally retails in the shops for £103.92, going for a Buy-It-Now price of £63.92, and then I negotiated the price down to £40 with the buyer! A saving that I just couldn't miss out on!

Then yesterday I spent £10 on a raffle - which was supposed to be my only planned bit of spending for the week, hence my WSC pledge of only £10.

So with 2 non-NSD days in a row, and with blowing my WSC pledge, I went that little bit further and bought a Euromillions ticket for £2 tonight's draw! Will keep my fingers crossed!

  • Failed miserably today. :o Not a NSD, and spent more than I meant to in the supermarket. Excuse: got visitors this weekend and took advantage of some offers - although I could have made do with the stuff in the freezer. :(:(:( I must pull my socks up....

Hope others are having a better day.
  • Oh hey Justicenpeace - you are doing well! You're nearly at your target and if you have visitors then there is always something that needs buying. And you may as well buy offers (as long as you are going to use them of course)

It's funny - I was really struggling tonight (which clearly is pathetic in the great scheme of things - they are only NSDs!), so thought I would sign on for some support! Am on my own and in on a Friday night - very dangerous combination. I also need to do a couple of hours work and feeling consequently a bit hard done to. You know the kind of hard done to that a chocolate bar from the shop across the road would sort out nicely. But weight and cholesterol issues aside, I really am finding it hard to make my NSD's - was over optimistic with a target of 20 but even so am determined and shall do it.

I also want to go out and buy clothes. Nice new clothes. That will make me feel better and look better blah blah blah. Don't worry, it's not going to happen..........it's just that niggling nagging itch at the back of my mind. However the ONLY things I'm going to buy in town tomorrow are xmas pressies (within budget of course) and am also going to switch bank accounts to earn a whacking £150!! So will focus on that instead of the chocolate counter in the shop across the road. If I get really desperate I can always start eating cereal straight from the packet to soothe my sweet tooth.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

I had one of those evenings too Curly & ended up eating the remainder of the raw cauli  Although not the choccie I thought I wanted, it did send the Sweet Tooth Gremlin a kick up the kiesta :rotfl:
I am convinced the NSD Challenge helps you look at the amount you spend as well as on which days, as the posts proclaiming Low Spends will support. All I know for certain is I have a little smile on my face as I climb the wooden hill to bed ford shire, if I've managed to keep away from retail therapy :o And look how much Chris has saved on just one bargain!
So No! I'll say it again...there are NO failures in this Challenge--every day you can add to your NSD total is a Victory!

    Hi curlygirl,

Thanks for your reply and for putting things in perspective: you are right, of course! :A I'm feeling much more philosophical this morning and I'm so looking forward to the rest of the weekend! :j

I hope you have a good bargain hunting day - and £150 cashback on your bank account is excellent (that'll last a lot longer than a bar of choccy!) Well done!

BigMumma, you are right of course; I won't refer to 'failure' again. (*left hand gives right hand a little slap*:D) A LSD is the next best thing to a NSD and it is about learning about spending habits - which days, when are the pressure points etc. And, each NSD is a little victory. This challenge is fabulous for learning these things - and to be honest we often learn a lot when things don't go as well as they might.

I hope everyone has little victories this weekend. :T Best wishes, all. :T
