Any ideas?
Been having problems with this website in particular. The banner across the top displays ok, but the formatting of the side banner is lost (all displays in the default times new roman), and the format of the main message bit is lost (again, times new roman, no formatting, border around messages lost etc etc). Have had this problem for a week, worked ok yesterday, but now the format's gone again. I've tried refreshing the page, but no luck.
Windows XP, IE 6.0.2900.
Any thoughts?

I have been getting this in work but not at home. It also means that the 'thanks' button and some of the other buttons are not working properly. I haven't had a chance to look at it but did try clearing cookies and history which helped for a short while but it returned.
I am guessing it is a stylesheet problem possibly being blocked by our firewall (which is very tight due to the nature of our work). If I get work sorted out I will let you know.

It is something related to the fact that the stylesheet doesn't load every now and then. A bit like when a page doesn't want to load and there's nothing you can do to stop it, the stylesheet does the same thing but you don't see it's individual loading process like you see the page's. Refreshing the page usually works for me, but failing that, clear your cookies and history, temp internet files etc. and have another go at refreshing.IvanOpinion wrote:I am guessing it is a stylesheet problem possibly being blocked by our firewall0

tigermatt wrote:The stylesheet shouldn't be blocked by your firewall because it just comes through into the network like any other website communication. Unless the extension (.css) is being blocked from passing through but it shouldn't be because it is a required file on most websites these days. Plus if clearing cookies and history temporarily fixes it then it won't be blocked on the firewall.

IvanOpinion wrote:One would have thought so but due to the nature of the work we do we need our firewalls to be very very tight and it just so happens that at the same time a I started having problems (when this site was last updted0 someone was bolting our firewalls back down again. I am not convinced the firewalls are the problem but I have just been too busy to check it out.

Could be related to the fact that someone was locking it back down when it started going wrong. :rolleyes2 Good luck sorting it out.0 -
IvanO - Don't know if this will help, but following the feedback above...
I wasn't too keen to delete all of my cookies because I'm lazy & don't know half of my passwords (having the cookie bypasses passwords on a lot of sites). Tried clearing temporary internet files - no luck.
Tried to find a .ccs file with a view to deleting it...no sign.
What seems to have worked is to change the setting Tools/Internet Options/Temporary Internet Files/Settings/Check for newer version of pages to "every time you visit the page". Refresh the page, and it then worked. To stop the PC grinding to a halt, I then went back into the same setting and reset it to "automatic".I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -
Yes, it happened to me last week at work on a number of occasions but it's fine on my PC at home. Sometimes deleting the Temporary Internet files and refreshing worked but not everytime.0
