Cheque through the post?? How does this work? Who would pay me for the damages? I wouldn't expect a low life like that to have enough £££ to pay for the 3 cars and 1 motorbike he smashed. So how do I pursue this then?0 -
Just had a letter from the police saying that court proceedings have started against this guy. They sent me a compensation form to fill in. I've repaired my windscreen and it cost me £117. There's is also another section on "other financial loss" eg. loss of earnings, travelling expenses. How would I be able to proof loss of earnings? I have never filled in one of these before. Would appreciate any advice please.0

If you are employed then it is a case of sending in your last 3 months of payslips (to prove your normal earnings), a letter from your employers confirming when you werent at work because of this and the pay slips for the period you were off work (to confirm the lost pay)
If you are self employed it would be a copy your last tax return (along with your accounts for this year if you want to claim your business has significantly improved since last year) along with a letter explaining why you were unable to continue to trade as normal/ couldnt get your employees to cover for you (or proof in terms of payslips if you did have to pay overtime etc due to having to get people to cover)All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Thanks for that. Do the courts give me compensation after the guy pays it or before?0

I dont know about the straight compensation for "victims of crime" as my claims work was all in defence and an insurer isnt liable for this... the loss of earnings advice is based on what the courts expect to see as evidence in civil proceedings (say after an injury) and I can see no reason why it would be different for this. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

some cretin threw a spark plug at my car while missus was driving WITH son in the back. i had churchill 3rd party insurance but decided to just ring a scrap yard. got a new back window and had it fitted for £80. ring a few and ask them. you'll probably end up getting the complete tailgate as some scrap yards dont like removing the glass incase it breaks. its also easier to travel with. look thru the phone book for someone to fit it and they would be able to remove the glass from the tailgate0
