End Of Doorstep Sales?

I doubt that. Loopholes will appear even if the law says it's banned.
BG send people to me "as an ex customer" for a chat ....who wasn't a BG customer once though?
A simple stucker saying you don't want door to door salesmen that was legally binding like double yellow lines are...knock the door and get a fine instead...that would work better. People would pay a quid I bet for one of those.

Trouble is, the energy companies claim that doorstep sales is the only way they can bring the "benefits" of the "competitive" market to the poorest in society, especially PPM customers, those without landlines, no internet access etc. Yeah right.
My advice to anyone approached by an energy salesman anywhere is to say "I don't believe you, sorry" and walk away. Few actually lie, but they are all extremely selective with the truth. When bored I have got into some real slogging matches with cold calling salesmen on the phone - usually from the awful British Gas. The worst though was from ScottishPower, who couldn't seem to get over the fact that I dumped them. In spite of coming nowhere in any online tariff listing they repeatedly called me to say they were cheaper and to probe what E.ON is now charging me. Naturally I didn't tell them. One scottish guy had a strange tactic: when I made a point he couldn't answer he would say "EH? What?" as if he hadn't heard or understood me. Truly pathetic company.0
