Not going to be joining the challenge this month, as we are going on holiday for 2 weeks during June, so wont be a true reflection of a normal months spend. Did go slightly over on Mays challenge, but worked out it was a longer month, so think ive done ok as it was over 5 weeks, and April was 4 weeks!!!!!

    Hi,

I'm in - I reckon last month we (me, hubby, 5 year old & 2 cats, but mostly hubby) managed to spend almost £500 on food

So, aiming for £60 per week - £240 budget for June.
Did a week's shop yesterday & spent £56 - including laundry powder, catfood & wine... Freezer is pretty much empty as ran out of money at the end of May (it was a long month, we had two weddings to go to (worked out we spent £200 on going to these!)& had to pay off the last bills from our wedding in April...)

I am meal planning already but am desperately trying to cut it down further... Wish me luck!

Im in again this month! Slight change to usual as i now have an extra mouth to feed as my OH is renovating his house and currently has no kitchen so eats here most nights. So im aiming for £80 for 2 of us for this month 1st-30th June.

Already spent £27.04 on a sainsburys shop today. BUT have meal planned for the whole month for the first time ever! yay!

Have a meal out around the 29th though as it OHs 30th birthday.. but including that in a seperate budget! :)

hi, my first post-not sure if this will work, am thinking about trying to lower the amount i spend on food, i had thought it was probably around £250 for 4, kids are teens so may as well be classed as adults but realistically it's probably more like £300. Just been to Asda to stock up, bought for 10 evening meals and some extras, was £66. However, I will ned to still buy some packed lunch stuff at weekend for next week, but am going to try not to spend til then.

So, if I allow £70 a week thats £280 for the month, will try and beat that, maybe only by £10-20, sound realistic..?
    Budget for Jan/Feb £240 per 4 weeks
Week 1-£52  Week 2-£75
    Week 3-£60.66 :confused:Week 4-£29.98 Total=£217.58
    w/c 18th Feb: £6.50

Will you include cleaning stuff and toiletries in that figure.
We are 2 adults and 2 teens(adults) and I have been trying to work out a figure to work with. I have thought that total shopping (including cleaning and toiletries ) plus dog and cat stuff I am going to aim for £70 week. I do a bit of home baking but not enough as cakes and biscuits seem to come to a lot each week.

Meant to add on that I am also going to take the weeks cash out of the bank so that I can physically see the money going downon y purse and that might make me think twice before I spend it on bits.

Good idea, that's what I'm going to do as well... Then I might freeze my bank card in a bowl of water, that might stop my dearly beloved asking if he can have some money 'to get some shopping' all the time!

I'll have another go at this, too. Think I'll include petrol, toiletries, etc. We're 2 adults & a 14 yr old, OH has a company car, so no overheads for that, but I have a car, which needs petrol. We seem to be spending rather a lot for just 3 people, but I haven't consciously sat down & saved receipts. June started today for us & I've spent 27.78 today, but I joined weightwatchers today, too, & spent 18.60 on fee, magazine, 'legal' sweeties & books! I'm hoping that getting back into the habit of buying & cooking proper food again helps to keep the bills down. It's the supermarket tomorrow with my dad, & I've made menus & shopping lists, but we've some odds & ends in the freezer & all sorts of dry goods, so we might have a few strange meals this week as well. Can't have a lot to drink on weightwatchers, so I bet we'll save something there! I'm going to try a budget of about £75 a week & see how it goes.

i would include cleaning items but not toiletries as i would be unlikely to buy them at the supermarket, i'll just see how it goes..another £1 down so i'm on £212 now....how do you set the little qoutes at the bottom of the box like..
