I've had a lovely morning cooking for meals to put in the fridge and freezer for the week or two ahead.

So far today I have made:

    8 bean burgers in breadcrumbs
3 portions bean n cheese bake
    8 portions chilli con carne

Yesterday I made enough sausage casserole to last for tonight's tea too, and 3 portions Black Saturn's potato and onion bake, which have gone in the freezer - hopefully they'll be OK when I finally retrieve them!

I'm going to make hummous next, for lunches, if I can find my tahini lurking in the back of the cupboards...

In total I spent £1.16 at Tescos this morning - I needed onions, carrots and celery to add to the things already in stock.

My June "month" finished on the 19th.

Spent in total £229.70 for food and diesel. This was split £115.41 for food and £114.29 for diesel.

    Have a budget of £260 so have £30 leftover :j :T :j

Only joined this 2 weeks ago after realising I probably spend over £200 a week on the 4 of us and 2 animals, just on food, cleaning products and toiletries etc which is absolutely shocking

    This week so far 19th -25th - £85
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb

Not a great deal. That is about average for us but I do like to keep a rein on it otherwise I could get carried away buying stuff that is not needed

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Photogenic I've been Money Tipped!
I've got loads of stuff in the cupboards still and I'm really trying not to spend anything unless I REALLY have to so I sat down with my cookery books (my home-made one with recipes from here, "look and Cook" from the 50's and a student cook book ;) were the only ones I needed this time) and I've come up with about 25 meals just from what is in the cupboards & freezers excluding needing to buy eggs (will buy the biggest box I can), chopped tomatos, some cream & mushrooms :j

Will be doing my best to stick to a budget next month but we'll have to see
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
  • Have read this with interest and think I'll give it a go in July. Not sure what sort of budget to set for 2 adults, 5 children and 2 cats. Do I count my chickens feed (11 chickens and 3 ducks in the total)?
