in Credit cards
I've just recently returned from holiday abroad with my partner, on hiring our car my partner had to use her credit card for the deposit, my debit card was not accepted by the company I did know this before hiring and tried to find a company which would take debit/cash but was unable to find one. Why is this ?
Proud to be dealing with my debts

Why is this ?
A debit card* or cash** offers no such guarantee.
* Whilst you may have funds in the current account at the time they 'pre-authorise', you may not have them 7 days later when you take the car back.
** Unless you're leaving them the market value of the vehicle in cash!0 -
Its also part of Visa Mastercard regulations, they can apply additional charges to your account if you cause damage, dont return car with fuel, road fines etc.
They also have a habit of screwing the whole thing up and europcar and various others tend to incorrectly debit customers accounts or apply random charges without going thru the correct channels and notifying customers.
I HATE CAR RENTAL......... oh sorry im not in work atm :P0
