Well I've been absent for a few days because of work. Still it's been good on the spending front!

    Saturday
(took flask and sandwiches - thank you for the nudge in that direction)
    1 packet of cigrettes £5.89

    Sunday
    food shopping £18.55
    Sunday paper £2
    Cigarettes £5.80

    Monday
    (took flask and sandwiches)
    no cigarettes

Sunday consisted of cleaning, washing etc. and so I started the new week feeling tired. Hey ho I have two days off soon and am going to the tennis at the O2:j

Would just like to say good luck in the MF challenge and especially the no smoking challenge. Just think if you gave up TODAY instead of a day in a few weeks how much you would save!
I'm amazed at how much you can OP and well done on taking sarnies and a flask to work, i was going to suggest that after reading. Possibly even take soup in a flask if its that cold at work?

have fun with your challenges and hope you have lots more NSDs :)

Good Luck with giving up smoking. As an ex smoker myself I know what it's like. I gave up quite a few times. before I succeeded. The first 3 to 4 days are the worst. In fact the first 12 hours are the worst. After 3 to 4 days you will have no nicotine in your body - it will be gone. In this time your body will be adjusting to having no nicotine - that's what the cravings are. They are your body adjusting to being normal again. Try to avoid stress. Alan Carr's book is brill and well worth the money.

Focus on how much money you will save.

    Tons of good luck.

I have been thinking of this diary for the last few days but just haven't had time on the computer to post - pre christmas build up now starting.

    Spending as follows:

    Tuesday
    1 packet of cigarettes
    (took flask and lunch)

    Wednesday
    1 packet of cigarettes
    (took flask and lunch)

    Thursday
    1 packet of cigarettes
(took flask and lunch- flask leaked but I think the problem is that I overfill it!)

I will look at getting a bigger flask as the one I have is a slimline one and I clearly want as much coffee as I can get into it. I could then use the current flask for soup (good idea pammyj74:T)

It's nice to know that I'm not the only person who will need more than one shot at giving up. As you say smf2 the first 3/4 dayss are the worst and I couldn't cope if I'm working, as one irritable comment could lose one whole income stream.

It takes most people loads of attempts to give up. Your body has adusted to having nicotine in it. It takes it about 3 to 4 days to reach a place where you body has adjusted to having no nicotine. So it feels strange 'cos your body is in flux - this is what nicotine cravings are. In actual fact they happen every time you put out a ciggarette, which is what leads you to light up the next one.

Giving up at midday is a good thing to do imho, as the nicotine dip is worst about 12 hours after you put that last ciggy out. If you give up at midday the worst withdrawal is happening when you asleep. Pick a stress free time (ish). It wouldn't do any harm to reduce the amount of ciggarettes you are smoking in advance.

    Good Luck :T

    Hi

Thanks smf2 that's something I hadn't thought of. The usual way I do it is to count the eight hours (ish) of sleep as a start but by lunchtime it gets hard - I'l try your suggestion so the worst is at night when I'm asleep.

    spend wise -
Friday, Saturday,Sunday and today - x1 packet of cigarettes per day.

Shopping on Saturday came to £55.80 as it included the monthly cleaning
things. I buy generic and large sizes but it doubles that weeks shop.

I am working until (and including) Thursday, then having a long weekend. On Saturday I'm going to the tennis at the O2 and really looking forward to it:j

    Hello

I've been a wee bit busy workwise so haven't posted for a while. What with both of the challenges I've signed up to starting imminently I have been working out figures - and made an op of £1600 on 1st Dec.

In my first post I thought the figures would be -
    "Anyhow, the mortgage is as follows: Mortgage 1 - £170,000; Mortgage 2 - £20,000; Reserve - £55,000; Total - £245,000" (haven't worked out quotes yet)

    The figures are actually:
    Mortgage 1 £- 167,000; Mortgage 2 - £ 20,877 and Reserve at £49,000 = Total of £236,877.:D

For the 2010 challenge I aim to pay off £20,000 in op's and will do this by a standing order of £1600 pcm (plus £800 after July when my op year restarts)

For the MFiT-T2 challenge I aim to op £80,000 - sounds a lot but if I can do £20,000 each year I have a btl to sell as well.

    Here goes :xmastree:
