chip'n'pin messed up in transaction void, not sure if charged??

Options
I was paying for some shopping in the coop the other day(Ilive in a village, and pop in at least once a day)anyway the chip'n pin machine had apparantly been playing up that day,and mid transaction it messed up, she gave me a receipt that said void (or something similar) on.I saved the receipt, but now can't find it anywhere.I've just been looking at my bank account, and I think but not sure(the amount looks familiar,as I looked at this receipt)that I was charged for it.Will the shop beable to check this for me without too much trouble,or will I need the receipt to proove it?I paid for it with cash.I don't want to make a fuss and then be wrong!Bit of an annoyance though.

We are also a small business with a credit card machine, sometimes the customer tries to take the card out just a fraction too soon so its a void. We always keep the voided ones along with the successful just in case there are problems later. Not had one yet but I'm sure all small busnesses would also keep theirs in a similar fashion.

    Same where I work..

We always keep a copy of the Void. Worth giving them a call.

If its a void though, then you will not have been charged.

Are you sure that the money has been TAKEN from your account or just RESERVED. I had the same thing happen the other week and one amount was taken but the same amount showed up as an outstanding transaction until it timed out.

Worry over! I found the relevant receipt,so can check it all out properly myself. My bank statement is just so full of coop transactions,it gets confusing,I really should keep better track of it all.Hate the thought of paying twice though!

I have been wondering this too. A good example is the Argos self service tills where you put your credit card in yourself etc - I was using it the other day and wondered what would happen if you were to take the card out a fraction too early? Would the whole transaction just be instantly voided? Obviously I would not try and do it on purpose as that is boarder line stealing, but was just curious as these systems are not controlled at all.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)
  • But wouldn't the receipt also show void for the goods you were buying in Argos?i
