uSwitch incorrect pricing
Options
Hi,
Just doing a quick price comparison on uSwitch and boy are their figures wrong. The figures quoted on the site for Southern Electric are far higher than the figures listed in Southern Electrics own website. For instance, Gas at 3.35p per unit on uSwitch, 3.19p on Southern Electrics price list on their site (yep I have got the VAT right). Electricity is the same with uSwitch at 11.91p per unit and SE at 11.32p.
Is this issue with uSwitch endemic on the site or just a one off. It makes me want to not believe what they say.

Please state what region you live in, the name of the tariff on uSwitch's result page and the name of the tariff from Southern Electric's site.
(No it is not endemic. For an accurate result selecting correct inputs can be exacting.)0 -
Ok, Region 20 (Southern). Dual Fuel Standard Energy Online is the tariff, both on the Southern Electric site and on the uSwitch site.
Kim, are you from uSwitch then?0 -
Since
3.35 / 3.19 = 1.050 and
11.91 / 11.32 = 1.052
I suspect it is Southern Electric who are 'cheating' and are including the 5% Direct Debit discount in the table on their site. Those are not the actual unit prices of the tariff in the table.
(Note that the "you are currently paying" total on uSwitch is about 5% less than what you get when you multiply out the "click here to see your current rates" rates.)
(I am not with uSwitch or any industry party - I'm just a consumer.)0 -
Hi Ignite
Kim is absolutely right. We display the standard unit rates on our site as well as stating the 5% monthly direct debit discount you will receive off your rates. This discount is taken into account when we calculate your annual bill size on this plan so the price we quote will work out the same as Southern Electric.
I’m more than happy to help if you have any more questions, just let me know.
Thanks
Emma
