P45 Received - no notice given

Hi

My sister works for the council, well she did... and she was informed about 18 months ago that all the old folks homes were going to be closing, and she would be put at risk of redundancy..

This kept on going on month after month with nobody knowing anything..

Anyway, about 2and half months ago, the home that she worked at, was given notice that they would be closing, all the residents were moved out, and all the staff relocated..

My sister was kept on, with no notice given about when the redundancy would happen, and she then became part of a close down team..

She managed to strip the building, so that it was just a shell, she then was moved to anothe further two homes to do exactly the same there.. (because she did a good job on her original place of work)..

However on saturaday just gone she reveived in the post her P45, with not notification of her redundnacy package, and what she was entilited to..

She called her line manager who told her to turn up for work as normal on monday ( i said not to, to go and see her union) but she did, and her line manager informed her that it was issued in error..

However yesterday she was at work, and HR asked for a meeting with her, and issued her with her redundance package, and told her to go straight away..

She was informed that in order to get her pay for monday and yesterday morning's work, the council would have to reinstate in order for her to get a new P45....

Surley this can't be right....?

Anybody got any idea's, has I thinks it is all wrong,

Thanks

they can't pay someone who doesn't work for them. The P45 says her employment was terminated so they would have to reinstate her to pay her, them re-terminate her employment with them. Someone stuffed up by the look of it.

    Sounds like a balls up

Very little process re redundancy also from what you are saying - check out the YouGOv site re this.
Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger
  • I would go and see CAB or someone, it's unclear whether they have followed process on this regarding consultation etc...

Sounds like they have used her and dumped her immedaiately after they had no use for her.

Assuming all the back pay stuff gets sorted, What are you most agrieved about , loss of job, or manner in which she has been treated?
