If I want to travel to Greenwich with an Oyster Card (originating from Euston), I know I can travel to Bank on the Northern Line, then on the DLR, but as the DLR trains are every half hour, if I go for the Charing Cross Railway Station -> Greenwich route will this still also be £1.60
It does seem to mention Zones 1,2 on the route planner, so I assume I can tap in and out no matter how I travel into Greenwich?

Hi Sweepnsoo - I use the DLR route that you're talking about daily, it runs from bank to Lewisham (calling at Greenwich en route) and definitely isn't every half hour:

shows frequencies, Greenwich is on the Bank - Lewisham route or Stratford - Lewisham route and trains are every 5-10 minutes (and more regular at certain times of day).
You do need to ensure you touch your Oyster Pay & Go card when you arrive at Greenwich, and touch in when you are leaving Greenwich, as the DLR stations (outside Bank) don't have barriers and rely on you to touch the card to a machine - several are usually situated around each station. If you don't touch in / out you will be charged a set fee of £4 per journey.
You can also - as you say - travel on national rail from Charing Cross to Greenwich, but last time I went to Greenwich the national rail station wasn't yet on the Oyster pay & go system - not all national rail stations are as yet. If that's still the case, your Oyster card wouldn't actually be valid for that route. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/oysteronline/5823.aspx lists national rail routes that do accept Oyster pay 7& go so check this before you travel to see if the relevant route has appeared on there.
The main thing to check is whether there are DLR engineering works the dates you plan to travel - if so then some or all of the DLR route may be closed and you may have to use rail replacement buses for some or all of the route which will take longer. http://www.visitdocklands.co.uk/planned-engineering-works/ has details of this

I can confirm that Greenwich rail station (not DLR) is not on Oyster PAYG. You can only use Oyster on South Eastern Trains when it's loaded with a weekly or longer Travelcard, otherwise it's paper tickets.0

Thanks a lot for the prompt replies guys. I kind of though it was odd the DLR didn't run that often, so I resorted to using the TFL journey planner for the Bank to Greenwich segments only. It doesn't seem very good at giving a good impression of the DLR if I said Euston (or most places we're planning on visiting) to/from Greenwich
Thankfully no engineering works, so I am looking forward to my journey not being as stressful as I first thought it was going to be

No - you need to tap out and in again where you change from DLR to tube or vice versa.
It will 'know' to charge you for only one journey. If you don't it will at best charge you for two unresolved journeys, at worst you could land up with a penalty fare.0 -

If you don't tap out it will charge you single tube cash fare for that zone IIRC. A zone 1 trip where you don't tap out is £4 for instance.0 -
Sorry to follow up, but I've just got back and used my Oyster card seemlessly. In the end I was travelling to Cutty Sark DLR station, and at Bank (Monument) we just walked under the subway link with one tap in and one tap out per journey
And very cheap for the distance travelled compared to my neck of the woods0
