    its not ;)
  • It's probably me, I'm known for confusing people!

Assuming you are a seller (and that's my daft question for the day!) try going into summary and then scroll down and near the bottom of that page there is another link to your seller dashboard

    Hi,

Got it now, showing because I've just rec'd some more feedback so the detailed listings are viewable.

    This is what it's showing:

    Item as described 4.80 0.00% (0)
    Communication 4.80 0.00% (0)
    Dispatch time 4.83 0.00% (0)
    Postage and packing charges 4.36 7.69% (1)

The 7.69 (1) is in red.

Re p/p what I've done up to now is when I'm researching what an item has prev sold for I use the same p/p as that seller, making the assumption that they've worked out the true cost.

    My performance is standard
    Powerseller level is none
    Policy compliance is high
    Account status is current.

    What do you think ?

Just to update, the 1st 2 are now at 4.88, despatch time is the same, and p/p charges now reads

4.53 3.85 (1) but is now all in black.

    How's that look please.

    Thx

I never knew about the 'Seller Dashboard', thanks for that.
Personally I use 'Listing Factory' to prepare my listings. The basic package gives you 100Mb of storage, and you get loads of templates to choose from.
One thing I will say is that items sell best with a simple template with just a plain border and single-colour, medium-sized (18pt) font. Please don't be tempted to use yellow, magenta, pale green or cyan on a white background (I have seen plenty who have, and it is un-readable).

I also find LF useful in that it can also create html code for use in other auction sites. As well as Ebay, may I also reccommend opening an account on Ebid. I Use this to list all the stuff that doesn't sell first time round on Ebay. It is much smaller, but you can set the item to a 10 day auction with 10 auto-reposts, and yu get 100 days of listing for nothing (and appear higher-up the ranking than those who just do a one-off listing for 7 days).

As Ebay runs free listing days every 3 months or so, this gives you the option to then cancel the Ebid auction (assuming the item did not sell), and shove it back on Ebay for another week.

I sold a coat on Ebid for £10.00 that failed to sell as a 'BIN' for £5.00 on Ebay, but getting your first sale can be very hard work as anyone who has ever tried Ebid will tell you. You need to build-up a feedback score by buying 1 or 2 items first (you can always re-sell then on Ebay to claw-back some money).

Anyway, as for P&P, just offer 1st class RD as an optional extra for what it will really cost you to post+20% to cover materials & time.

BTW, freecycle is a good place to obtain free packing materials. Also try your local shops, some of them may be throwing-out bubble wrap & old jiffy bags, you don't know if you don't ask.

  • Ooh how weird I'm another one from grey old Coventry!

I listed a load of baby stuff recently - I find the best time to end auctions is a Sunday afternoon as this is when a lot of people are chilling out and surfing the net, lol. I tend to wait for free listing days - they had one last Sunday so I listed lots of stuff in the afternoon and put them all on 7 day auctions so they will all end this Sunday. I did put a few things on Buy It Now (which wasn't free but only cost a few pence) so I've already made about £50 :j also sold 2 prams, I've been having a major clearout!

Good luck with your selling I hope you manage to make yourself a decent bit of cash!

  • Thanks Soolin for the tip about the seller dashboard. Unfortunately it tells me I'm not eligible to have access to this feature  Any ideas why? I've got loads of things listed. Reading through here, I think I need to get better at doing my P&P as I've just been guessing and sometimes its way too high or way too low!
Going to find the ebay board now, I didn't even know there was one!

  • Ooops silly me, I've just found out why I can't get onto it - I've not had ten detailed seller ratings yet. Have answered my own question!

You risk being suspended. Being suspended from eBay is a nightmare trying to get back on can take months.

Don't try it, they can know it is the same address etc.,

We got suspended for another reason and literally had to grovel to get our account resinstated.
