just really need some help :-(

hi i'm new here, i only posted once before. i really need some help, i didn't know where to post this so it's probably in the wrong place but as my problem relates to credit cards, it seemed best.

i have a serious, serious spending problem. i'm not in crisis as such, my credit is good, everything has always been paid up to date and no one has ever had to chase me for money. but i simply cannot control my spending. i've been in uncontrollable debt 4 times and managed to pay it off but i find myself here again. it's always credit cards and the frightening thing is i don't even know how it happens. i've got over £6500 spread over 5 credit cards at the moment which has appeared in less than 2 years and i couldn't even tell you what i've spent it on. it just seems to 'happen'. i think in my head i plan to pay it straight off but then don't.

i have cut up all my cards and am paying as much off per month as i can, i managed £761 last month and have taken 2 months 'payment holiday' from my £600p/m mortgage so i can pay more for the next 2 months. i'm just frightened i will pay it off and it will happen again. my boyfriend has his own business and is great with his money, i'm so ashamed that i am not the same. outwardly you wouldn't expect this of me, i am sensible, have a good job with a lot of responsibility etc but inside i am a mess!!

can anyone recommend anything to help or is anyone else in the same situation as me? i'm not asking for sympathy, i know this is entirely my fault. i just don't want to do ot again but i don't know how to stop it.

    buying stuff is addictive!

it's like necking a pill that gives you a rush of pure pleasure

and then dealing with the financial comedown later ...

if you are coping with repaying the debts then it's less of a problem

but its stressful taking the risk of monetary meltdown then having to sort it out..

maybe try to find other ways of being happy...

    i know the feeling lol
