Woolwich Survey - how long?

Hi,

I went to see the Woolwich advisor in a Barclays branch yesterday and filled in the application, provided payslips, p60s, bank statements etc....

My credit score is 999 and our deposit is 40% of the purchase price. Deposit is being paid by parents in law. I have some debts but the advisor calculated the mortgage based on my affordability and he could not see any reason why it wouldn't be accepted.

I can see on my credit report that they have already made a search against my name.

Our offer on the property is conditional on exchanging within 28 days.

I have received a text from them saying they have received my application. How long does it take before Woolwich arrange the survey? Will they text me when they arrange it?

we recently completed on a repossesion. from the outset we informed the mortgage provider of the situation. we had the aip then valuation then mortgage offer in 1 week. this wasnt with woolwich though. if you are buying a repo the vendors will extend from 28 days as long as they can see progress being made

Woolwich told me recently that they do surveys within 2 weeks and the whole process should take no more than 4 (from application to offer of mortgage).
  • We are in the process of buying a property with a similar LTV ratio as you and also applied for a mortgage from the woolwich (through a independant mortgage advisor in our case).

From application to approval, the process took just over a week. They survey was instructed on the same day and carried out by the surveyor 4 days later. After receiving a satisfactory valuation Woolwich sent out our mortgage offer within 3 days.

So end to end it was approx 2 - 3 weeks.

  • mine was similar to scrummy mummys experience, 2-3 weeks from app to offer. Survey was instructed 3 days after application submitted. Very pleased with them and headache and stress free . I really like the way they keep you informed by email and text all the way.

Yes I totally agree, they have been so efficient and quick all the way through - it's nice to feel like you have got a good service!

About 2-3 weeks for us too, in fact the only bit that took a while was getting our banks to send us statements to help prove income at the beginning of the process...maybe we should move to barclays!!
  • I was finding it almost impossible to get a mortgage as i am self employed and didn't have 2 years business statements. Almost everyone was turning me away even though i was only borrow one times my salary! Other lenders were asking for company accounts, projections, accountant references etc.

Luckily because i bank with barclays i got a an instant pre-approval for more than twice of what i needed from just my bank account number.

I was really stressed for a while but luckily they came through!
  • Thanks for your answers. Sounds like you all had very good experiences so I should be i good hands

I wasn't quite sure how fast things would go but 2-3 weeks would be ideal for us! Let's hope they get back to me within the next 2 days!

I'll update the post when I hear from them!
  • Looks like i was worried for nothing!!

Had a text message saying the valuation has been instructed this morning. They also phoned me and said they required no more documentation from me, they had everything they needed. So as long as the valuation comes back satisfactory we're rolling!!

    Happy days!
  • Glad to hear, good luck with the rest of your move.
