Timing when to switch energy provider during a quarter
Options
Forgive me if this has already been debated/discussed, but I want to discuss the implications of having a quarterly tariff cycle and the timing of changing tariff and/or provider (i.e. my tariff charges a higher pence per Kwh for the first 'x' units of energy per quarter, then a reduced charge per unit is applied if/when I've hit that threshold for the remainder of that quarter, which then resets I believe the following quarter to the higer rate).
If one changes tariff (either with the same supplier or a different supplier) part way through my tariff quarter, would I effectively be resetting myself to the initial higher unit rate (i.e. the tariff quarter starts afresh), and hence the mix between higher/lower rates may be skewed in the supplier's favour?
Therefore I'm only considering tariff/supplier changes towards the end of each tariff quarter, so to maximise my exposure to the cheaper unit rates enjoyed towards the end of the tariff quarter.
Does anyone know if I'm barking up the right or wrong tree here, or even understand what I'm going on about?
any advice would be appreciated. (ps - I'm on a dual fuel online Eon tariff currently).

Tier 1 units will be apportioned pro-rata to the number of days supplied/billed."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
