what transfer would be best if any?

hi
new here I have been reading the tips but would like to ask about transfering the balance of my credit card approx £2500
I work only part time at present as I am a full time student in receipt of a bursary, therefore my income does not alllow some of the identified cards
I do not use my card and have not for some time and I pay £60.00 which is more than the minimum by direct debit each month I am not always able to pay extra but would like to transfer to a 0% I have some savings at the moment but have to have some work done on the house

which would be the best card to transfer to in my circumstances? I am a single parent I have a mortage and no other debt I recently applied for a bank loan but was refused and my own bank will not provide me with a student account.
I bank with the Halifax and my credit card is also with them .I was thinking about using my savings to pay a lump sum off the balance but unfortunatly i need to maintain my property

    Welcome to MSE!

Please be aware that to apply for 0% BT cards, you need an annual income of at least £8000. Just so you know.

For tips to improve your chances of credit card acceptance, have a look at the *Credit Rating: how it works and how to improve it guide* especially Martin's *Manage and Improve your credit score* article, to make certain there's nothing else besides a lowish income working against you ;)

Have you considered the Post Office card? 12 months at 0% is currently available to new customers on balance transfers made in the first 3 mths. There's a 2.98% BT fee.
Also, 5 months at 0% on new balance transfers requested in the month of your 1st and 2nd anniversary.

  • Thank you My salary and bursary combined will exceed that minimum, will the card companies accept a student bursary?

Even so, your choice of balance transfer card is severely limited.

The Bank of Ireland will accept applicants with a good credit history, but lowish annual income (minimum £8000) for its Post Office Classic card.

I don't see why not. It's an income, after all.

Let us know how you get on

    Very best
