Bunny, you can 'opt out' and close the account now whilst you pay off the balance, so what you pay off now will stay at your current rate. It should say on the back of the letter.0

My Mother currently has a Capital one cards, with about £10,000 on it. she has received a letter with the rate increase. HAs anyone had experience with the capital one card company in trying to freeze at the current rate and pay it back... your help and feed back would be much appreciated.0

All you need to do is call them and state you are opting out of the APR increase and you would like the account closed to repay at the original rate.
They are under a legal obligation to do this if you ask them to, as long as it is within 30 days of receipt of the letter or statement showing an increase.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Got the letter last week...was 18.9, going up to 25.9. Opted out on principal, although the fella was trying to keep me aboard with the active credit check service...oh like I can send £2 off instead to Experian.
Bizarreley my wife phoned them (no letter, but thought would be prudent) and said she wanted to opt out and they said her rate was not changing.
Capital One was the car I was keeping once my debt was paid off as the rate was reasonable...oh well.0 -

Wondered if anyone got any limit increases lately without asking.
I had a £100 limit last month and it has been that since I got the card, but now I got £600 limit! Applied for the card a year ago, so not sure if this is an anniversary increase or not. Been using it monthly, paying off the full balance every month so was surprised about it when I checked my balance online. Never asked for an increase as well!0 -
My limit was increase from £500 to £800 this week and the balance is paid in full every month.0
