Paypal took 3 weeks to take money!

Hi there, I bought something on ebay on the 5th October for £12.75, and paid by Paypal.

The money only came out of my account yesterday (3 weeks later)

Has this happened to anyone else?

  • yes its happened to me as well!!
same date 5 october and only showed up y/day despite me having had plenty of other paypal payments before and after that one coming out of my account as well!!
needless to say the 40.00 taken yesterday has pushed me 9.24 overdrawn so i am quite unhappy with them.
i was under the impression that when you set up a bank transfer/ direct debit they charge you instantly for the goods?!!

Normally the money shows online as reserved immediately but does not appear on the statement for a few days.

I do have to keep an eye on things when I have a spending spree though.

yes i do agree with you. i do feel stupid for not having realised the money hadn't left the account. however, since i've had the item for over two weeks now, and noticed plenty of other items being paid for which i bought after that i do feel a little miffed.
oh well live and learn i guess. no doubt they'll be a hefty bank change as well to remind me of my stupidity lol

this is why i opened a basic account for mainly paypal (or saving up) its easier to watch out for this as you dont have all your other transactions on there too
