BT land line - but calls with another provider beware.

I thought this better have it's own thread, but I have also added to another one too.
BT caller ID is free if you make 6 BT phone calls.
Howver, if your calls are provided with another supplier, and you don't make 6 calls with BT, then you will be charged 7.50 for caller ID.
Caller ID was a free service provided by BT so long as you make the 6 calls.
A mailing was issued a number of years ago pointing this fact. I never check my bills properly and this only came to light in the summer when I noticed that I owed money to BT and the amount was getting more and more each month, despite having a DD set up.
I did point out to BT that I thought there was a training need at the call centres to point out to people when they change packages exactly what they will be paying. fat chance of this happening, as baiscally, this is an easy way for BT to make money.
Better customer service would be to ask customer if they still wanted this product and if they did point out what it costs or what they need to do to ensure that it is free.
I am now going to make a complaint to Ofcom, that will probably get nowhere, but at least I tried, and it may benefit other customers in the future.
