duplicate meter readings? EDF electricity

Hi folks

anyone come across this before? We received a bill from EDF last week. It's estimated with an actual reading from the start of the billing period.

Thing is I went to check the meter and yesterdays reading is exactly the same as their actual reading from July.

Before contacting them I thought I'd see what the consensus was on here - forewarned is forearmed and all that!

cheers...

    Is the meter still working?

It seems too much of a coincidence that a meter would go faulty on the day they read the meter.

Who gave the actual reading last time?

It sounds like your meter is bust. You'll need to tell them.
Should be quite easy to tell. Older electric meters have a rotating wheell, newer meters have a red led that should flash when electricity is used.
Gas meters have a rotating dial, or the lcd display indicates consumption.
Of course the meter reading should also change once you've used enough energy.

If you have been at the property for some time, the estimated usage is probably close anyway.

If you are new to the property (e.g. this is your first bill) then they might try and re-estimate past usage based on future usage after the meter is replaced.
