Old Gift Voucher with no expiry date

Following a post on a previous thread, I have recently come across a £10 paper gift voucher for Toni & Guy that I was given a few years ago. I kept this aside as it does not have an expiry date on it at all.
When I went to my local salon, they said they could not accept as they only use gift cards now. I tried to explain that without an expiry date they should accept it, but they wouldn't.
I contacted their Customer Services, who responded with:
"If you still have your receipt for the voucher then I would recommend you return it to whichever salon this was purchased from."
They said they would not exchange the voucher as they only use gift cards.
It says nothing on the gift voucher about retaining the receipt - and as it was a gift to me,and a number of years ago, I didn't have a receipt.
I'm a bit stumped as to what I do next. I know it's not worth a lot, but I feel like I'm being cheated by their faults.
Can anyone suggest what I should do now? Is their any kind of trading standards issue here?
These are the voucher conditions of use:
"1. This voucher may be exchanged for goods & services at any Toni & Guy Salon.
2. It may be exchanged for goods & services of a higher price than the face value of the voucher, on payment of the difference.
3. This voucher cannot be exchanged for cash.
4. Toni & Guy shall not be liable in the event of the voucher being lost, damaged or stolen.
5. The voucher must be presented, complete with the perforation and hologram intact."

Can you use it to pay for a gift card of the same value? If the store has no facility to accept them, you could try contacting their customer services asking to exchange it for a gift card.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
I would go elsewhere. They would lose a £40 hair cut over a £10 voucher0

Or the OP could use it to buy a couple of bottles of really nice shampoo...
I would reply to Customer Services stating that their response is not good enough, and as there is no expirey date on the voucher, they should honour it by exchanging it for a gift card.
If they reply back and say no, then reply saying you will be contacting trading standards regarding this matter, and be in touch with them soon.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
