19" tft monitor advice

I should like to replace my 17" Sony Trinitron monitor bought in 1999 with a 19" tft one. I have looked into the Acer and Viewsonic brands which both sell for less than £200 and have good reviews but my OH says that he doesn't think that these super sharp space saving (my opinion!) monitors will be as good as the old and trusty Trinitron. We have a Dell dimension 8300 desktop.
I should be grateful for any advice.
Thanks very much.

Hi,
I replaced my Sony Trinitron 17" with a TFT.
Differences are:-
Games and graphics run at 60fps (v-sync enabled to stop tearing) instead of 100fps on my old Sony - This is fine, 60fps is more than enough to get a smooth picture.
No glare, I couldnt play games during the day because of the amount of glare from the sun/window. TFT's don't suffer from this at all, I can now play games anytime.
Colours are completely different, even better colours than a good CRT tube produces.
It doesn't click when switching resolutions, the Sony CRT's are bad for this.
Saves huggins of room.
Low heat produced so I can keep cooler when using it (thats a shabby point I know)
DVD's play mint through it.
You can be proud of a digital connection instead of analogue if your screen and graphics card supports it.
You can wall-mount them (or some of them), saving even more room.
erm............thats it from me.0
