Evening!
More recent pleasures......
School production was very good. So much typecasting! A triumph!
Getting somewhere with my list of 'stuff' to finish before the end of term. May even be finished before the end of term!
Making progress with last assignment of my Uni work.
Trip to IKEA to get some furniture for school. It was in stock this time:j Then struggled to fit DS2 and furniture into back of the car. Had to get him a milkshake from McDonalds as a bribe to sit with 3 boxes on his head! (DH and I had ice creams to keep him company).
Craft class was usual mix of lively chit chat and people watching. Decorating a straw bag with flamingoes for the beach.
Money off coupons in W and T. (Small victories).
Someone has bid on the trampoline on eBay.
:A0 -
Had a great holiday, relaxing and recharged the batteries.
Drive to work on Monday and my back went into spasm so have been off work and on painkillers.
1. Feeling in much less pain and reduced painkillers I'm on. Thank goodness for being seen quickly in A and E.
2. Managed to eat ok as had frozen enough fish pies, shepherd's pie etc to last the week.
3. Managed to get mending done as doesn't take much concentration.
4. Picked some flowers from the garden so are cheerful.
5. Some nice texts from friends.
Found some not bad as i thought as most of the week was a blur.0 -
OMG Frith, what a horrible, cruel, evil b1tch that teacher was!! My blood is boiling at reading what she said to your DS.
1. Have had a blissful 4 soirees chez Chap, my own mini-break, despite both of us working each day.
2. DD came back last night from her first ever foreign school trip. She texted me all the way through telling me she was missing me like mad, which worried me a bit as I hoped she wasn't terribly homesick, but turns out she had an AMAZING time but did miss her mummy cuddles
3. Had some great early morning swims.
4. This week of school flew by with the meet your new class morning (yay, they seem rather cute), final rehearsals and evening performances of the play. The children were fabulous, especially when they coped brilliantly with the computer deciding to shut itself down half way through, meaning no music or sound effects for about 10 minutes!
5. Chap was given some scrumptious courgettes from a friend of his.
6. We took advantage of a special Thai curry deal to have an amazing dinner, nomnom.
7. Went to see the flat I was desperate to buy - location and room sizes were perfect; the damp and rotten door weren't....and the seller's glib comments of how he's been trying to get the housing association to fix both for over 6 months to no success, but if I get a letter from them confirming that they'll do the work, and everything will be hunky dory just didn't quite cut it with me! The search continues.....
8. Chap was the talk of the classroom after he earned all the credits for them to ensure they could have their end of year party! He came in on one of the play nights and did some furniture shifting and other bits - so earned a credit for moving furniture, another for emptying out the rubbish from it before hand, etc etc. He also drew Garfield's canine friend on the whiteboard, and is apparently a "really good drawer"He has been paid in thank you messages on the board and a couple of lovely letters. How cute!!

1 The animals helped me clear up the grass cuttings by running through them.:rotfl:
2 Dinner was hot chicken wraps with turmeric rice.:)
3 Popped to lidl for small shop, turkey mince for lasagne, milk and banana’s.
4 I tried to clean out the pond a little but with literally verging on 100’s of baby newts I left it alone.
5 I just meal planned, and then re meal planned to make it more appetising.:o
I’ve a few things on my mind and this thread is helping, I am worried about DH, he is in more and more pain, I am getting him to the docs next week, hoping we can get to the bottom of it.0 -
Chap sounding like a good, er...chap, Kittikins!
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Toast and hm damson and blackberry jam for breakfast.
3) My brother and his dog popped in.
4) Cleaning - bathroom, turtle tank, kitchen, 3 loads of washing...
5) Hens OK.
6) Did some work towards an interview I have on Wednesday...
7) Made soup for tea plus plenty for the freezer.
8) Bigger son has just phoned from work (local pub kitchen) which ended abruptly this evening as it was a little bit on fire
A pan caught on the stove and somehow this set fire to something behind the stove and the flames were then sucked up by the extractor fan! One lady burned her hand (slightly) dealing with it, it was put out with a fire extinguisher then they evacuated due to the smoke.0 -
Good day yesterday. Virtually no painkillers.
1. Managed to dry washing on the line.
2. Put together some more of flat pack furniture. A bookcase with drawers. Only doing small amounts at a time as I hate building flatpack furniture.
3. Enjoyed being in the garden. Flowers are looking good and veg is growing well. Courgettes are starting to produce lots.
4. Listening to the church bells. There must have been a wedding at both of the churches i can hear the bells for about half an hour apart.
5. Managed to do some gardening without to much of a detrimental effect on my back. Weeding where I knelt bending forward was a great position for my back and sort of how I've been sitting all week.
6. Saw 42nd Street which was excellent. Tickets had been booked a while ago and I has thought earlier in the week that I wouldn't be able to go.0 -
Glad you got to see your show VL
Some recent pleasures,
Finished book (Nocturnal Animals) can't say it made me want to see the film, suspect too violent.
Good haul in local CS for more reading material, bedside table replenished.
Cycled into village for jelly as had hankering and hit local store just as YS bargains went out, good job bike has a big basket!
Lovely day out at the races with Capt S and youngest hollow-legged SS, Gentlemans Day at the July meeting, my favourite meetwe managed a good few winners between us including the lovely Roly Poly and came home up on the day.
Stood at kitchen sink when a sparrow hawk hit the bird table after the young birds, the table is against the hedge so they scrambled to safety, the hawk sat on our lawn for a few seconds then took off, beautiful but deadly.0 -
Morning!
Yesterday
1. Trip to town for holiday shorts for DS2. Primark had lots of choice. :money:
2. Got 2 Xmas presents in House of Fraser sale. Also, a cardigan and jumper greatly reduced.
3. Used coupon in JL for free tea and cake. DH and I shared the cake and had extra pot of water, so free for both of us!!!!!
4. Trip to Waities with coupons got £38 shop down to £17.
5. HM burgers for tea, used up half empty packets from the freezer etc. Making space! Yummy tea.
6. Finished up cycling straw bag into holiday beach bag. Decorated with flamingoes. :j
7. Face time with DD.
8. DH tried on a linen jacket in JL........ Found it on EBay for 1/4 of the price. BNWT! Bought it. ( Why can't I be that lucky?).
Happy that I have managed more than 5 for a change.0 -
1) Found my new 'approach shoes' for the holiday in Cotswold Camping this morning, same style as I have (and have had for the past 4 years) now and they're indestructible and very comfortable.
2) Lovely coffee out at a garden centre on the way home.
3) Found a really comfortable top for the cooler months in the clothing bit of the garden centre, size 12 perfect fit.....25% off!
4) Visited the food hall and found some bargains in the butchery, no meat just some samosas and onion bhagees.
5) The figs are ripening on my garden tree, we unpotted him last autumn and this is the first crop I've had to ripen in 3 years, got two lovely just ready ones to pick tomorrow for He Who Knows to take one each to the girls, though I think the Zebra child might get that one, he loves them!0 -
1. Lovely end of term night out, with Chap
Wore a new to me top last night and felt lovely in it. Sat outside at the do and enjoyed the riverside views and lots of lovely chats.
2. Cheap end of term night out! Way under budget, possibly because I was a numpty and forgot to add Chap on to my car insurance in time so drank water and diet coke all night....
3. Got some YS goodies in MrT's this morning on the way home, bought the dog's Christmas present, lol. (The dog of the day tends to get a book as they are usually on a specialist diet and woe betide anyone who tries to go off piste with treats!!)
4. Have scored some prescription medicine that my dad has just been taken off but which I still takeRather than take it to the pharmacy to be destroyed, it's come upstairs with me to save me a prescription fee!!
5. Had a sweet time at the school fete yesterday, saw most of my classbut also found out that another one is leaving for a new school
Thankfully, it's DD's school, so I'll probably still see her at drop off and pick up times!
