Some recent pleasures,
Breakfast out with the hollow legged ones, they devoured a full English each and regaled us with stories of student life, there is talk of buying an inflatable hot tub to float down the Tyne in, oh crikey!
Jackdaw rescue, apparently you can access area under floorboards in office directly from the chimney, who knew? Jack fell down said chimney and got stuck, floorboard up and string tied to screw, window open, tug on string from safety of behind door and large black bird was free. Let's hope he didn't enjoy himself and decides to spread the word!
Savoury hot x buns, weird but tasty.
Friend of a friend has a sister who may want someone to share her equine pal with, tentative steps as looks very similar to lovely Bill and may be too difficult heart wise, will see.
visited DSIL and couple of hours spent putting the world to rights over cups of tea.
Your daily pleasures, thank you.0 -
1) Just being us!
2) Loving the family and our friends and knowing we are loved in return.
3) Having Cookie dog to walk.
4) Having all of you here at the end of the keyboard to share the sublime and ridiculous with and knowing you understand what is funny!
5) Despite all the problems it contains being alive and living in 2017 where we have enough food, safe shelter, safe travel, and today a beautiful sunny day.....Happy Easter my friends xxx.0 -
Almost bedtime for me on this Easter Sunday. It's been a full day but one with memories and bouts of tears.
For last few days.
Early start on Good Friday but no work ( yay) lengthy chat with my wise friend from home , then I dozed on and off.
Our Chinese friends visited and were very perplexed at our Easter plans to paint eggs and roll them down a hill! I suppose if you've never heard of it , it would sound odd! They brought cake ( as usual , huge party sized gateau )
Saturday, early morning dog walk. Baked meringues and lemon meringue cupcakes. Went to lunch. She is my daughter's friends mum , who I know a bit and have chatted with in the past...like if I picked up Dd1 or she dropped her DD here. She'd invited me up for lunch and then regaled me with tales of her dating exploits! Was trying hard not to have a shocked, sheltered life, happily married for almost 25 years look on my face! Nice afternoon though. We sat outside and she'd made chicken and avocado focaccia and I'd brought lemon meringue cupcakes ( with mini eggs nesting) and a large quarter of gateaux!
Home and another dog walk before and early bed.
Today,
Lovely walk to local parklands with Haggis.he loves it there, was nice and quiet at 7am.
Went into city to go to the Scots Church. Familiar words but as it was Easter lots of mention of death which was a bit hard.
DD1 had came into city and met me, we had a nice lunch of soup and cheese on toast, classed as a half and half...could not have eaten a full portion of either! Nice.
Had a wander over to Federation Square, there was some comedy going on that we caught the tail end of, we had our photo taken and got a free voucher for coffee/ hot choc so DD1 had 2 hot chocs
Train home and then we decorated our eggs...I did one to look like an eggy OH. As well as an owl. DD1 did hers all polka dots and DD2 drew her school! She had been at work.
Dog walk to local park and found a bit of a hill and rolled our eggs...Haggis thought this was an eggs-ellent ( groan) idea and loved running up and down the slope chasing eggs which he got to eventually eat.
Had made a steak pie but still too stuffed after lunch to eat it so we shall have it tomorrow night instead.
Have a lovely day .0 -
What a lovely post, Mhags, thank you.
I suppose it's a backhanded compliment to you that DD's friend's Mum felt able to share some rather intimate details with you, despite not knowing you very well.
Hopefully Haggis kept downwind after eating all his hard boiled eggs...
A collection:
I have been offered a set of posh Prestige pans to review. I've never owned a proper pan set.
Mine are the ex MOD pans that were in our married quarter in Germany some 35 years ago. We were offered the chance to buy them very cheaply, so duly did. Most of them are around 40 years old, and rather battered but very sturdy.
Making Estonian pirukad (bacon and onion mini bread pasties) for Easter. A lovely high days and holidays treat that allows me to wallow in nostalgia as I make this old family favourite.
Sorting out some recently published and read just once books for the library. I discovered some years ago that the library was happy to take donations. It gave me such a buck to see the books I had donated on the shelves.
Recovering from my gastric 'do' with no lasting ill effects. Oh well, now I know that late night eating now has such a dramatic impact on my digestive system, losing weight should be easier...
Pirukad and chocolate for breakfast with lovely tea and mocha coffee to wash it down. Bliss.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
BoPsie cake and she's eating it!
50 BoPsie got loads of pressies. Chanel. Told you the fragrance lass was good. Then a canteen of cutlery. Mind you the knicker of naughty shop bits look ...
More later ...0 -
Greetings from lovely Dresden. Having a "night off" as OH has gone to an organ recital (I can't STAND organ music) and DS has retreated to his room (we have rented an apartment). So I am here with my blankie, some candles and a glass of wine, and my book in a sec (Persuasion - the only Jane Austen I have never read).
Pleasures for the last few days
1 lovely Prague at night. We had a meal in s real "authentic" (I.e not touristy) restaurant. The beer was green
2. Caught various trains and steam train to a ski resort. It is the highest town in Germany (Kurort Oberwiesenthal) but the snow had mostly gone. We caught a cable car and walked down the mountain through the forest. Had s go on the summer bobsleigh thing
3. Came to Dresden. Whilst not as grand as Prague as it is a lot smaller, it has much to recommend it and is more accessible and a lot less touristy
4. Another day another steam train another walk through the forest. I got given a small chocolate egg on the train.
5. Saw an Easter bunny riding a bike through the city :rotfl:
Happy Easter allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

5. Quiet evening watching tv.0 -
A busy day for us today.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Down by the river Severn by 9.30 to wave off sons and brother in law in the canoe.
3) Went here http://www.svrwiki.com/Dowles_Bridge
as on one of the piers is one of the most difficult geocaches in Britain! We spent 3 hours in the canoe/on the bank/on the end of the former track, trying to get a line over to climb up. No good so we shall have to go back another day.
4) McDs for a late lunch.
5) Went to my parents for simnel cake.
6) Spent over an hour on the phone to my school friend.
7) Tasty tea of baked salmon, potatoes and green veg.0 -
Enjoyable day yesterday.
1. DS1 and girlfriend came round and we all had an Easter egg hunt. DS2 not as enthusiastic as others but he found the most. We managed to all be out in the sun and it was lovely and warm but proceedings came to a halt when we had to rescue a bird from the fruit cage netting.
2. Spent more time in the garden and planted seeds, tidied up and also had a bonfire.
3. DH cleared the patio of moss. He did a great job of it and something I hate doing.
4. Went to cinema to see Beauty and the beast. We all enjoyed it.
5. Having a morning coffee in the garden in the sun listening to birds as nd the church bells.0 -
Good hearing about Dresden VJsmum, hoping to visit later in the year.
Pleasures over the weekend.
1. Lovely time in North Berwick. Chilly but heartwarming to see families enjoying the fresh air.
2. Stopping enroute at Falko's German bakery. Lunch and bread purchased.
3. Raining and cold yesterday but enjoying making soup and catching up with recorded series.
4. Working this morning but the Easter bunny had left a chocolate egg on my desk!
5. The best of all news that my brother in law has the all clear. So happy for his lovely family.0
